Frequently Asked Questions

What is Honda E-Clutch?

Honda E-Clutch is a system that manages clutch operation for you. That means there is no need to use the clutch lever when starting, stopping, or changing gears. You still ride a manual motorcycle and change gears with the foot shifter, so it keeps the feel of a traditional bike.

Is Honda E-Clutch fully automatic?

No. You still choose the gears yourself using the foot shifter. Honda E-Clutch assists with electronic clutch operation.

Do I still have a clutch lever?

Yes. The clutch lever is still there, and you can use it whenever you want. That gives you the convenience of E-Clutch with manual control still available at anytime.

What are the benefits of Honda E-Clutch?

Honda E-Clutch makes riding easier in stop-start traffic, reduces effort at low speed, and helps gear changes feel smoother. It is a good option for riders who want manual control with added convenience.

Is Honda E-Clutch good for new riders?

It is a great option for newer riders because it makes pulling away, stopping, and shifting feel simpler and less intimidating. You still get the experience of riding a manual bike, but with added confidence and without the fear of stalling at the lights or for hill starts.

Will experienced riders still enjoy it?

Yes. Experienced riders still get the involvement of choosing their own gears, or riding in full manual mode with the added bonus of easier low-speed riding and less effort in traffic.

How is Honda E-Clutch different from DCT?

With DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission), the bike can change gears automatically. With Honda E-Clutch, you still shift gears yourself. The system assists with clutch operation, so it feels much closer to a traditional manual motorcycle.

Can I still ride it like a normal manual bike?

Yes. The bike still has a manual gearbox and a clutch lever, so the riding experience stays familiar. Honda E-Clutch simply adds another layer of convenience.

Is Honda E-Clutch useful in traffic?

Yes. One of the biggest advantages is in stop-start riding, where repeated clutch use can become tiring. Honda E-Clutch helps make commuting and urban riding easier and more comfortable as you don't need to use the clutch at all.

Who is Honda E-Clutch best suited to?

It suits a wide range of riders. New riders will like the added confidence, while experienced riders may appreciate the smoother feel and reduced effort in traffic. It is a strong option for anyone who wants manual control with less fuss.

Is the maintenance cost higher with E-Clutch vs a manual bike?

Maintenance costs for the E-Clutch system are the same as the equivalent manual model. You'll also have less clutch cable wear, which may end up saving money on servicing costs in the long run.
